Greetings folks, I am a veteran of the NY pedicab industry attempting to combat dishonest drivers plaguing the business. I have created PEDICOPS.COM to warn potential customers of how some of these drivers operate.
Most pedicab operators are honest but enough have taken a turn to the dark side that I feel it needs to be addressed.
This is a one-man operation that is still in development. I will probably face backlash for not supporting the per-minute/per-ride rate formula, but given the abuse of said formula, I felt I needed to act.
I hope you will back me in this endeavor and I strongly encourage the general public to share this warning on your respective pages.
Thank You
All pedicabs should have a CLEARLY POSTED RATE CARD like this one (yes, this big or bigger) and a STICKERED TIMER facing the passenger or around their neck along with their Pedicab Driver License, also around their neck. The ID copy here is optional, but this driver includes it for additional transparency.
Again. All pedicabs should have POSTED RATE CARDS. One on each side of the pedicab like this one to the right and one facing you like the one you above below the ID, and a STICKERED TIMER facing the passenger or around their neck along with their Pedicab Driver's License, also around their neck. Remember to check for the driver’s DCWP license and the posted rates. The price of pedicab rides must be calculated per minute using a timer but you can demand a flat rate for your entire ride (such as a tour). Pedicab drivers cannot charge tax, increase the price for additional passengers, or add other fees, and they must give passengers the official
A Street Legal pedicab has its 4-digit DCA license plate on the bike in this manner.
The sticker changes color every year beginning on November 1st and remains until October 31st of the following year.
For example, this year, 2023 - 2024, the color is LemonYellow, and it expires at the end of October.
The new color for November 1st, 2024, to October 31st, 2025, is Hot Pink. Please see below.
This sticker means the bike has been inspected by DCWP (Department of Consumer and Worker Protection) as a licensed and insured pedicab registered to operate in the City of New York. The Pedicab Complaint sign has the ownership information and DCA contact so you can file a complaint about the driver or company if required.
Greetings folks,
What you're seeing here is the official Department of Consumer and Worker Protection Sticker/Permit/Plate for the season 2024 - 2025. Any Pedicab at this point not sporting this sticker is an illegal Pedicab. This color is valid until October 31st, 2025 according to written law. But we are allowed a certain extension until we pass inspection to receive said sticker starting November 1st or sooner. No other color should be on the street at this time. So if you see anything other than this color they are NOT PERMITTED to operate anymore.
Send us a message, and we will get back to you soon!
